Cham Bank explains banking basics to a group of students

 

Cham Bank - The first Islamic bank in Syria - met a delegation of young students in an introductory tour to some departments and branches of Cham Bank in collaboration with SANAD team for development.

 

Over two days, students were briefed to the experience of Cham Bank as the first bank in Syria operating in accordance with Islamic Sharia.

 

The tour started with a visit to some branches of Cham Bank to recognize the tasks and workflows for non-cash measures as the process of opening bank accounts with its types, or cash measures as check cashing, deposit and withdrawal. The explanation included some tips on the importance of savings and current accounts.

 

The tour involved a visit to the Central Operations department where students were briefed on the “Swift” system which allows sending and receiving different kinds of messages between banks and financial foundations in a safe and encrypted manner. Then the student delegation moved to the department of Foreign Trade to learn more about their services such as policies, credits and warranties.

 

The last leg was with human resources management where students listened to a detailed explanation about the administrative structure of Cham Bank, the method for applying for jobs and the required qualifications, besides some tips of how to choose a college major and scope of work.



On that Mr. Ahmad Al Laham, CEO of Cham Bank asserted that this step comes as part of Cham Bank social responsibility towards students, and in support of Syrian youth to help them recognize the job market requirements, moreover learn in direct and practical way about banking, the staff roles, divisions of Cham Bank and to put their questions directly to employees and get answers and advice which enhances linking academic study with practical and applicable reality in the work space.

 

 

Finally, this visit comes within “Steps” project launched by SANAD team for development in order to support young youth define the working environment and the business field through lectures, workshops and field visits.
